This route describes an unusual approach of Beinn a’ Chaorainn via remote Glen Avon. The walk can either be done on a challenging 1-day trip or a more relaxing 2-day trip with the option to stay in a bothy.
This unusual route approaches Càrn Dearg & Sgòr Gaibhre from the South instead of from the West. It also takes in one Corbett, making for a challenging but very rewarding and quiet hillwalk.
Morrone is easily accessed from the picturesque village of Braemar on a very good path. The views of the surrounding major Deeside peaks are superb.
Meall a’ Bhuachaille is a great first hill to bag. Good paths throughout, and the views as a reward are magnificent.
