Geallaig Hill is a Graham in a fantastic position. From the top, you see the Lochnagar massif in its full glory. The walk is good going all the way on excellent, broad tracks and later on the side of a single-track road. This walk makes for an excellent and short micro hillwalking adventure and is perfectly suited for beginners.

You start the walk at a small parking area on the side of the A939 northwest of Ballater . Walk through a gate from where a good track leads up the hill. It is a very straightforward walk on this track. Ignore the paths that branch off to the right and lead downhill again.

Eventually, you reach the summit of Geallaig Hill , where you find a cairn and a trig point. The views from this wee hill are superb. Especially Lochnagar and its corries to the South look magnificent.

After enjoying the views, continue on the path leading west. Keep to the right at the fork and head down the slopes on this pleasant track. Soon, you reach the steepest section of the walk, which doesn’t present any difficulties at all since the gradient is very gentle and the track is not exposed.

Continue further down, where you reach a gate after a short while . Pass through and turn right. Follow the single-track road, and eventually, you will return to the parking area where you started your walk.
